Huntington Beach California, Sept 26th 2024
After 40 years of service the KC-10, is going to fly its last Mission. The KC-10 began its service at the Factory in Long Beach. The final flight will be from Travis AFB to Davis Monathan AFB leaving Travis at approximately 10 AM. For those able to go to Travis and attend the event, more information is available at https://www.travis.af.mil/KC10Farewell/.
For those that can’t make it to Travis, the Huntington Harbour Yacht Club is proud to host the Southern California Final Farewell party. The SoCal Final Farewell is open to all members of the HHYC, former KC-10 crew members and families and former McDonnell Douglas employees that worked the KC-10 line.
HHYC is proud to have members that both worked on the KC-10 and flew the KC-10. Scott Bourquin is one of the original “Orcas” at Travis AFB. In 1995 he was part of the 70th Air Refueling Squadron. The 70th also known as the Orcas was the first squadron to stand up at Travis and fly the KC-10 followed shortly by the 6th, 9th, and the famed 79th “Gucci’s”.
Scott retired from the 70th ARS after serving as an Instructor Pilot and Director of Information Systems and two tours as the Assistant Director of Operations for the 908th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron supporting Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. A digital photo wall will display highlights from those years in the KC-10.
If you are part of the KC-10 community, please RSVP and join us at HHYC for this Final Farewell.
