Dear Members of Huntington Harbour Yacht Club, I hope this letter finds you well and that you are enjoying the summer season. As we reflect on the busy and fun months of June and July, I am pleased to share some highlights of our recent events and activities at the club. We kicked off the month with a memorable HHYC cruise to Catalina Isthmus, where 9 boats and 20 guests enjoyed a happy hour raft up, a hike to Cat Harbor, and a beach barbecue. The Men’s lunch cruise to Shoreline Village in Long Beach was also a great success, they traveled up the coastline and enjoyed lunch at the Yard House. We also hosted a Father’s Day Brunch featuring fun outdoor activities and a special brunch buffet. I believe that the kids enjoyed the golf activities better than the dads. As we transitioned into July, we hosted our yearly Independence Day celebration with a patriotic Duffy parade, outdoor BBQ, live music, dancing, and games. The Open House event attracted new members, and the Huntington Beach Sailing Foundation’s Junior Sailing Program is on their last week of fun at HHYC. The kids had such a blast out on the harbor learning to sail! In July we also had our “Wine Cruise” Event where we travelled from France to Lodi, CA and enjoyed sweet and savory pairings while our members helped us curate our seasonal wine list. It was very well received and we are planning on hosting the next Wine Cruise in the Fall. HHYC Member Lou Carlow’s band “Rip Tide” entertained us at a “Surfin’ Sarfari” theme event. The food was delicious, and we danced all night! Our club continues to offer a variety of activities, from game nights to live entertainment, Breakfast By the Bay to monthly bingo hosted by the Sea Belles. I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new members who joined in June and July. Your presence enriches our club, and I encourage all members to welcome them with open arms. Michael Marsh & Mary Dousette, Kris Bagley & Ashlee Souza, David Powell (Stuart) & Christina Powell, Tim Sanford, Diane Buccella & Ron Siemers, Kelly Kaplan, Ron Altbaum & Kristen Altbaum, and Daniel Chyan & Natalie. As Commodore, I want to emphasize the importance of member involvement and volunteerism. Our club thrives on the dedication and support of our members, and I invite you to join our Standing Committees or contribute your expertise to our Planning/Events Committee, Yachting Committee, our Fundraiser Committee for building repairs, Website Committee, New Membership Committee just to name a few. If you are interested in volunteering, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. If you have not been to the club in a while, I invite you to come back and join in on the fun! Our upcoming events in August are the much anticipated Texas Hold ‘Em event on August 10th and our Clam Bake on August 24th. Please check HHYC’s Calendar on the website in addition to your weekly Blast for more information. In closing, I want to express my gratitude for your continued support and participation in the Huntington Harbour Yacht Club. Together, we can create memorable experiences and build a strong community within our club. Warm regards, Maria Antos Commodore, Huntington Harbour Yacht Club Commodore@hhyc.org (909) 630-9935 |
